The Serbian Open Data License has officially been added to the relevant EU data vocabulary (version released 17/06/2026), marking an important milestone for the national open data ecosystem. This achievement ensures that the license is now fully recognized by European systems and contributes to Serbia’s alignment with the DCAT-AP (Data Catalog Vocabulary – Application Profile), improving interoperability with European data platforms.
Within the EU vocabulary framework, the license is registered under the name SODL (Serbian Open Data License), providing a clear and standardized reference for both data publishers and reusers. This formal recognition facilitates better integration of Serbian datasets into European portals and enables more consistent data exchange.
The initial version of the license is based on the legal framework defined in the Law on Electronic Governance, as published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, No. 27/2018. In line with practices, a version-specific identifier has been adopted to ensure that any future updates can be clearly managed and tracked.
As a result, the official label of the license in the EU data vocabulary is SODL_1_0. This forward-looking step strengthens Serbia’s participation in the European open data landscape and lays the groundwork for sustainable, standardized licensing practices in the future.
