Workshop on Open Data Held at the National Academy for Public Administration

Belgrade, March 26, 2025 – A workshop on open data was held at the National Academy for Public Administration, attended by 42 members of the Open Data Working Group. The goal of the workshop was to familiarize representatives of state institutions with the concept of open data, as well as to discuss the legal framework and future steps in this field.

The workshop was led by Andreja Gluščević, Coordinator for Data Standardization and Open Data at the Office for IT and eGovernment, and Sanja Arizanović, Project Manager at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). They provided participants with a detailed insight into the fundamental principles of open data, ways of applying them in various sectors, and the challenges institutions face in this process.

During the workshop, members had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the potential of open data, clarify uncertainties, and collectively define guidelines for future work. The current and future legal framework was presented, along with examples of best practices that could serve as models for improving access to open data in the public sector. This workshop represents an important step toward forming a clear strategy and concrete measures to enhance transparency and data accessibility, contributing to more efficient public administration and better services for citizens. The next steps include further improvement of the legal framework, strengthening institutional capacities for working with open data, and organizing additional educational programs for all interested stakeholders.

The workshop was held as part of the “Open Data for Open Societies” project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Office for IT and eGovernment, with the support of the United Kingdom.
