New Platform for Reviewing and Analysing Retail Prices Launched

As of 16th October 2026, citizens can access a new platform for reviewing and analysing retail price lists in the Republic of Serbia. The platform demonstrates how open data can be transformed into a practical digital service that makes retail market information easier to understand and use.

The platform is available through a banner on the website of the Ministry of Internal and External Trade as well as Open Data Portal Serbia. Retailers publish their price lists in a machine-readable format. The data is made available for reuse through the Serbian Open Data Portal.

The solution brings publicly available price lists into single environment, making large volumes of data easier to explore and compare. Users can compare regular and discounted prices, monitor changes over time and examine price ranges across product categories. The platform also provides access to historical price information, analysis of products identified by GS1 barcodes registered in Serbia (860).

The platform is intended for citizens and consumers, but also for researchers, journalists, civil society organisations, the academic community and public institutions. Its analytical functionalities provide different user groups with an additional resource for examining price movements and the structure of the retail market.

This is also an example of the broader value created through the reuse of public sector data. When data is standardised, connected and presented in an accessible way, it can form the basis for digital services that provide direct and practical value to citizens and businesses.

The continued development of such solutions contributes to greater market transparency and encourages wider reuse of open data in the Republic of Serbia. Making public data easier to access, understand and analyse remains an important step towards creating services and tools that respond to the needs of different communities.
