Belgrade, October 7, 2024 – As part of the project “Open Data for Open Society” implemented by the Office for IT and eGovernment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the United Kingdom, the workshop “Unlocking Potential: High-Value Data” was held today at the National Academy for Public Administration.
The workshop is aimed at institutions identified by the European Union’s legal framework as those possessing high-value data. High-value data includes geospatial, meteorological, and statistical data, as well as data on environmental protection, businesses, and mobility.
The ultimate goal of the project is to promote the use of open data for the development of new services and applications that will improve the daily lives of citizens in the Republic of Serbia in a transparent, accessible, and comprehensive manner.
Throughout the project, various activities will focus on improving the Open Data Portal, opening and utilizing new open data with a special focus on high-value data, amending the Law on eGovernment and related bylaws to align with EU regulations, and creating a comprehensive guide for institutions opening their data.
Additionally, special attention will be devoted to education, digital inclusion, and empowering women in the Republic of Serbia through sessions, conferences, and networking. These efforts aim to enable women, using open data, to realize their full potential in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as in other professional environments in the coming years.
